The History of the Democratic Party
The Democratic Party is one of the two major political parties in the United States. Democratic parties follow a liberal viewpoint when it comes to making political decisions. The Democratic Party is one of the oldest official political parties in the world and it is the oldest official political party in the United States. As of 2004, the Democratic Party had a little over 70 million registered voters, more than any other political party in the world. Democratic parties have been responsible for putting some of the most famous United States presidents into office, including John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and most recently the first United States’ African American president, Barack Obama. The Democratic parties are represented by the color blue and a symbol of a donkey. Since the late 1800s, Democratic parties have the liberal viewpoints on many political issues.
